Laurel Lane Elementary School students participated in the 2017 – 2018 inaugural Safe Routes to School Walk and Roll Incentive Program event for Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools. Students walked, biked and scooted to school and were greeted by physical education teacher, Ms. Kristy Louridas. The goal of Safe Routes to School is to encourage walking and biking to school where possible. Walk to School Day events will be held on the following dates at other Safe Routes to School target schools in the division:
- October 11, 2017 @ Matthew Whaley Elementary School
- October 11, 2017 @ Norge Elementary School
- October 18, 2017 @ Clara Byrd Baker Elementary School
