Lafayette High School computer engineering students have participated in the Virginia Student Training and Refurbishment (VA STAR) Program for the past five years. Through this outreach program, the school receives older computers from the state for students to clean, refurbish and donate to the community. Lafayette is one of over fifty schools throughout the state of Virginia that participates in this program and for the second consecutive year, teacher Richard Aadahl has been recognized how well the program has been implemented at the school.
Richard Aadahl and student representatives, John Barton and Mikhail Johnson were presented the VASTAR Best Practice award on behalf of Lafayette and the Technology Education department for their unique program to disperse computers and printers to our community.
